GUILTY Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #217

Do you think it’s common for a male defence attorney to put their arm around a male adult client during the course of double murder judicial procedures? If so, for what reason?

IMO that portrays a behaviour intended to calm or console, exactly like that of a mother and small child. Especially so considering what we know of RA’s prior mental issues including abnormal and unpredictable…tendencies.

JMO
I don't know if its common or not, but an attorney putting their arm around the shoulder of the client during sentencing (for comfort) is not at all the same thing as this comment: "utterly disgusting Baldwin sitting there cuddling and coddling RA in court like a mother and her small child. Unbelievable, sickening and damn maddening."

That's all I was saying.

If DNA were given for every crime scene there emwould some DNA there from someone.
RA is a creep, creeps don't leave traditional DNA from an assault.
The woods is not smooth surface.
MOO
It's the ususl specious argument, there HAS to be DNA - so no DNA means that RA wasn't there -

That means what actually?
That no DNA means no one was there?
It's idiotic.

You’re welcome.

Maybe for the sake of argument or a matter of perspective, and respectfully, how would you feel if a loved one had been murdered & you observed this behavior between the defendant & their attorney in front of you & your family repeatedly in court? Would you feel the same or take exception to the accused’s treatment? Genuine question, as I feel the subject is a matter of perspective rather than contentious debate.

Personally, I just think it was all disingenuous & for show. The defense has already shown me enough of their true colors to not really be surprised what they will do & in front of whom they will do it. All one has to do is read the impact statements to get an idea of how their behavior affected the families. Those statements alone, IMO, say much more than anything any of us might post here.

JMO
They were hugging a paycheck.

Who are you talking about please? Erica Morse? I don't know who she is. A Court TV commentator?
An "investigator" for the defense. She likes to drop information that has been public for years & spin it to the less informed as if it’s groundbreaking news & definitively linked to the Delphi murders when nothing in MSM has been stated as such. But as usual, she can’t get into the details of whatever it is she’s alleging.

They were hugging a paycheck.
Or possibly a distraction as they were reaching into his pockets to see if there was more to pilfer. ;)

@Yemelyan
Thank you very much for your post providing so much detail from Jerry Holeman speaking about his experience investigating the Delphi case.
Interesting to read about info not admitted at trial.

Beautiful post @Quim The Extraordinaire

Agree with you, and hope to join you in releasing myself from following the case so closely. It’s time. Their murderer is finally behind bars.

If this thread remains open, I hope it will be to honor the memory of Abby and Libby. IMO, further discussion of RA’s likely appeal should move to a new and separate thread. I am just so done with listening to the ‘poor RA, he is innocent’ bandwagon.

jmo
I totally agree with you in hoping for a new and separate thread where we can discuss the upcoming legal issues.

Jerry Holeman spoke with the Murder Sheet about his experience investigating the Delphi case over two episodes.

Great post- I wanted to pull out this part for focus!

Kathy Shank has "a heart of gold." She was retired but she was there a lot and was asking to help even more. Mullin had worked with her in Child Protective Services and trusted her. When she organized the files the investigation became much better. The Orion computerized tip system they were using had its glitches so that it wouldn't put together, for example, a tip on John Smith vs. John Doe Smith. Investigators would go out to interview John Doe Smith and find out he had already been talked to four different times with no new information. So Kathy's organization helped organize these tips so that they knew if followup had been done or not. She found a tip on Richard Allen Whiteman that had not been filed appropriately. So they had to work that tip from the beginning like they did any other tip to eliminate him or establish probable cause. RA was the only tip that they were able to establish probable cause on.

I think this illustrates the dangers of leaping to the conclusion that KS magically plucked the Whiteman tip out of thin air. This is a form of logical fallacy (like survivor bias) because it ignores all the other issues she found with other tips and resolved over an extended period. Eventually one of these problematic tips turned out to be the needle in the haystack they had overlooked all along.

So as we now know, she did not magically find the "Whiteman" tip at all. She found a lot of tips with issues to be resolved and one of them was the actual killer - something that was actually likely, and is always a risk on investigations.

I was shocked to see Erica Morse mentioned here. I haven’t followed this case closely, but I have followed the Hailey Dunn case. EM is a whack job who has made repeated outlandish accusations against LE and others in Hailey’s case for years. She and Clint Dunn moved from Texas to Indiana a while back. Guess her involvement in the RA case is the latest attempt to make her name relevant. All JMO.

Interesting.

I have just watched the Kathy Shank interview and I hope she realizes what a hero she really is.

ETA- if you want a laugh read some of the comments as I think a few have got into the Christmas wine early :D
the conspiracy will never end, its tentacles reach ever outward, entangling hundreds at this point in the frame job of the unluckiest man alive

Allen’s wife Kathy was not in court to witness her husband’s sentencing and Judge Gull dismissed the defense’s contention that the hardship his imprisonment would cause her should be seen as a mitigating circumstance.

Addressing Allen who wore a grey sweatshirt over his orange prison jumpsuit, his wrists cuffed and fixed to the transportation belt around his waist, Judge Gull said, ‘I’ve been a criminal court judge for 25 years and presided over the most hideous cases in the state of Indiana.

‘You rank as one of the most hideous. You’re right up there. You rank right up there with the extraordinary impact [your actions] have had on the families…generational impact.

‘The families will deal with your carnage forever and you sit here and roll your eyes at me as you have rolled your eyes at me repeatedly during this trial.’
Delphi murderer Richard Allen has been sentenced to life in prison

ETA the DM has lots of quotes from family member impact statements
Hardship?! Whut? Puh-leeze….that just sounds nuts on so many levels. IMO. Thank you, I had to get that out!

RA is now in custody at the IDOC Reception Diagnostic Center
Check out the earliest possible release date!
Thanks for this!

Cheers to RA being released on April 26, 2120 at the earliest!

I don’t suppose we need to be concerned with if that date falls on a holiday or not.

Happy Chanukah and Merry Christmas to everyone here, and I hope the families can eke a drop of joy out of Christmas this year, now that the door has slammed shut on Richard Allen, eternally.

She does seem to be the Karen type. Nothing she said on Politan’s show Friday was really news in regards to this case or trial. Just rehashing things which occurred years ago & without any real proof, just tabloid type of claims, if not outright lies.

MOO
Seems she has many court cases of her own, the latest being an arrest for cruelty to animals. But the other cases are interesting too, see for yourself - LaPorte County - don't want to derail the convo, so this is the last I'll mention her. Just making others here aware that she's a grifter, as it does reflect/relate to her connection to Richard Allen's case.

The Christmas gift boxes filled in honor of Abby Williams are headed to Madagascar off the African coast. Before her death, she packed these boxes as part of her holiday tradition. Abby & her friend Libby German were killed in 2017. The killer was sentenced on Friday to 130 yrs.
