GUILTY Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #217

Nick discussing the podcasters and youtubers who generated the hate received by investigators and prosecutors.

Somene asked aobut the "other men" Nick says we have zero evidence that indicates anyone else was involved.

Someone asks about Anthony Shotz - Nick responds with he was convicted for crimes he committed.

UGGH one of those youtubers or podcasters must be present.

Nick is taking questions. Discussing how to support the families while observing the gag order, offering encouragement to the families.

[can't really hear the question being asked] RA must file an appeal in 60 days.
Wow, some of the reporters are pushing at NMcL about the Anthony_Shots account or any other actors.

Doug Carter - clips of his words

What you say, and how you say it, matters. Social media has consequences to human beings.

Richard Allen knew.

Hate me if want to. This is one of the few countries in the world where you can.

We are human beings and mistakes were made. I will crawl across shards of hot glass for Jerry Holeman. He is not a liar. He gave 8 years of his life for something greater than himself.

Defense .. ridiculous nonsense for Baldwin and Rozzi to have done this.

Tone down the rhetoric and conspiracy theories. We all tried the best that we could.

Nick McCleland is taking questions:

It's hard to put yourself in the shoes of the family. He asked them not to read allegations on the internet. He urged them not to violate the gag order and "keep their eye on the ball."

Did he fight with Auger at the end of sentencing? "No, she was commenting on things said in the sentencing, I'll keep those to myself."

RA has 30 days to file notice that he will appeal. If he doesn't file, there's no appeal. If he files, they will respond accordingly.

He feels confident in the verdict and the sentence.

Were other actors involved? Not at this point, there is no evidence to support it. If evidence comes in the future, they'll investigate. The amended charges were to add charges that were more appropriate at the time.

He wanted vindication to show that "the people standing behind me" were not corrupt and that a clean investigation was conducted.

Are all the other men cleared in the case? He asks for clarification on who "the other men" are. He says there is no evidence to tie them to the offense at this time.

Will they continue looking into the Anthony Shots profile? Answer: he was convicted. There is no information that he is connected as of now.

The timing of the sentencing was just to get it in before the holidays and it worked in everyone's schedule. I think the question is referring to trying to get the sentence in before the holidays to bring peace to the families. He says nothing will bring peace on any day, but hopefully there is relief that this part is over.

Surely the gag order has now been lifted?

DELPHI, Ind. — Richard Allen was sentenced Friday, Dec. 20 to 130 years for the 2017 Delphi murders of Abby Williams and Libby German.
Special Judge Frances Gull sentenced Allen to 65 years for the murder of Abby and 65 years for the murder of Libby, the maximum length for both the charges.
Gull said to Allen, "you rank right up there with the most hideous crimes" she's presided over in 27 years.

Today is the day! As the prosector said, a huge sigh of relief to finally bring closure to this awful case. I have never invested myself in a crime as much as this one, checking in on WS and the news every single day from the day the girls went missing until RA was arrested. When the video came out, I thought for sure they would have him in a few days, and it took five years. Kudos to Kathy Shank for seeing more into a lead sheet many had ignored. They actually did have him a few days in with his confession to being at the bridge, but may never have realized it without her! Also, awesome job by LE, including Superintendent Carter and Sheriff Leanzenby and all the investigators, the prosecutor, judge Gull, and the jury! Amazing awareness by Libby to know to shoot the video and to hide the phone afterward, and for the girls to stick together under such horrible circumstances. The strength the German, Patty, and Williams families exuded was amazing to witness. I am sure I should name many others as well. Justice has been served! RIP Libby and Abby! I know you are in a better place!

This might’ve been discussed before if I missed it but I just listened to MS’s podcast this morning regarding the recent defence filing indicating that RA has been mentally ill his entire life.

So IMO RA was likely never involved to any great degree in instructing his defence team so they were free to write their own script. Good riddance to them!

I do believe RA was guilty but I also believe his public defenders took advantage of him in an attempt to gain their own fame.

One of the best press conferences Ive ever watched.

It brought me to tears and chills.

Prosecutor McLeland is an outstanding officer of the court.

I will admit at times I questioned LE’s investigation, earlier press conferences, sketches, etc. and why it was taking so long.

However, I have a newfound respect for ISP, DC, and all those involved with the investigation. They not only had the investigation to deal with but all the other unnecessary crap that was going on.

In addition, about hero, Ms. Shank, I give kudos to Sheriff Leanzenby for taking her seriously about her findings, and that he did not pass it off as nothing important.

Yes.
For RA to say nothing, to not participate as requested by his attorneys, is just another slap in faces of the families. The defense continues their despicable behavior.

: edited for clarity
And yeah MOO he also afraid to mess up his appeal by exposing his "Down the Hill" voice to all.

Murderers are bad people, they didn't act right, and they continue to not act right during or after conviction.

“There’s nothing worse than having people parachute into your town that you’re familiar with and telling you how it is,” she said. “This is a real tragedy for them. People here knew these girls. They knew the families, or it affected them because they have children.”
[snip]
But, she said, some members of nontraditional media have intentionally spread misinformation.

“Most people are not bad actors. Sometimes people just make mistakes,” she said. “Then in other situations, it’s a calibrated misinformation campaign. It’s disturbing to see, but once you see it you can’t unsee it.”
Richard Allen sentencing in Delphi murders closes case that drew nontraditional media, too

quotes from AC of MS podcast

and yeah, many of us here at WS saw it and once we had could not unsee.

reminds me of the day RA loudly thanked his team for the coffee and said how wonderful it was (paraphrasing). I posted at the time that it was like a major F you to the families and him rolling his eyes throughout the trial fits right in with that attitude.

Now he can roll his eyes as much as he wants for the next 130 years. He earned that sentence.
I remember that post. I also remember feeling as if I didn’t have enough middle fingers I could give to all of them for doing such. They’re all slimeballs, AFAIC. Their cavalier approach, rubbing everyone’s faces in their client’s insistence of being innocent, & snubbing their noses to the court & JG throughout the proceedings & trials have led to this. This will be noticed by the court of appeals & I pray they make that a point of denial, right to all of their faces.
