This is huge. I was sure he had been drinking that day, so hearing him say that in a confession makes it all the more believable.

This is much more specific than the ones we heard yesterday.
But won't people say this was after he got the discovery and found all this out already? I thought he got discovery in April maybe I'm wrong though.

Yes and covered with sticks - wow! That’s a detail that is very specific

I was just gonna quote and tag you when I read that upthread. Our suspicion that he was day drinking seems confirmed. As a former day drinker who was much braver and reckless in my actions then when sober, this makes the crime make sense.

So Dr Wala turns out to be a substantial prosecution witness…….

BAM! If I were a juror, these confessions would seal a guilty verdict for me. That's it. Over. Guilty.

Wait, did he mention the sticks in the confession?

It's wasn't in the discovery that the killer was drinking. It definitely wasn't there had been SA. That's a lot of things that explain how a "normal guy" would commit such heinous acts, following a narrative that coincides with the evidence. It's all the personal details that sell it to me, so to speak.

I literally have goose bumps. This confession sounds for real.
Absolutely. I was slightly concerned that today would be more of the same from yesterday, but this absolutely isn’t that.

I’ve said for years that I thought this guy was under the influence, and when Allen was arrested the only thing that made sense to me was that he had been drinking that day (I joked about him walking the trails with a flask).

These are the details I needed to hear to be comfortable with a confession actually being a confession.

My opinion
He should have been housed where he's currently being housed. They agreed to take him earlier but the judge decided he should stay in prison.

If I recall correctly it stated the jail did not employ a psychologist.

Surely it was noticed RA would require psychiatric care upon his arrest based in his comments, in addition to his mental health history? It’s would been equally negligent if RA’s mental health situation was entirely overlooked.

There’s no right solution on this endlessly discussed topic so I say best to wait for the only opinion that really matters - the jury’s verdict.

How is him being in the county jail better?
All one has to do is look at him to see his improvement since getting out of prison. I suspect the conditions are better. He can at least get together with his attys on a regular basis. I wonder what made Judge Gull suddenly decide to release him to a county jail.

Regardless, we aren't supposed to put pre-trial detainees in prison. I think the jurors will be shocked to see that we do.

It isn't really what only the killer would know though and there is no mention of how the girls were unalived nor in-depth details.

And...if he was drinking and crossing a treacherous bridge like that under the influence how possible really would it be to keep one's balance and not stagger or fall through any of those gaps let alone control just one person.

You should meet some of the functional alcoholics I know. Will be the first to climb a 10 foot fence and somehow not die.

If he is a regular drinker, I doubt six beers would cause him to stagger about.

A 6 pack sounds just the right amount to lose some inhibitions, but still be functioning.

It’s not so much only things the killer would know, it’s the level of detail that makes it unique.

Visiting his parents, not wanting to eat lunch, buying 6 beers, etc.

A previous tweet from today said that he admitted to being an alcoholic since 2011. Six beers would be nothing to a guy like that, especially over the time period he drank them.

That would merely be enough to loosen him up, and allow him to take insane risks.

I believe they file these things as much for the fan base as for an appeal.

I agree and each time the D write a motion and after it gets released, the focus is on them and diverted away from the happenings in the courtroom. JMO
