Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #207

The entire post that follows is my thoughts on the matter.... for now :)

The DT's desire to introduce the Odinist thing is evidence they have little else.

The idea that the DT doesn't have to prove RA's innocence is true in theory, sure, it's the Prosecution that has to prove his guilt, however, to my untrained eye, it appears the DT is desperate to...well...prove RA's innocence.

RA likely went to that trail numerous times, armed with weaponry and intent, hoping for opportunity. On the day of the murders, he knew it was a day off school, and the weather was nice. He went, and waited, you know, hanging around the trail, and bridge. He knew if a woman, a girl, would come along, and head across that bridge, he'd be set.

Abby and Libby did just that....they crossed that bridge. The rest of the story is now being told, in testimony. There will likely be more.

Truth as this old country boy sees it, RA went there with intent to sexually assault a female, intent to rape, his plan was interrupted, his rage boiled, his fear peaked, and he murdered two innocent girls on a warm late winter day.

I don't usually get emotional about trial watching and generally able to remain objective, but this trial has left me fairly horrified. Since when do we put people who are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a max security prison for 13 months? How often does that happen in our country? And that's only the beginning of issues so far that have left me astounded.
Did you happen to hear that Libby had tears mixed in with the blood? Did that make you emotional?

Per walla testimony there was discovery paperwork on the floor April 10,2023 - which is before May 3, 2023

What’s the significance of May 3rd, 2023?

IMO From the questions, the jury seems logical. I almost want the odinism to be admitted because I think this jury would have difficult to contain the laughter. On another hand, it is possible that there is 1 or 2 jurors into conspiracies theories, so..

I don't understand his defense. In my opinion, seems the best defense here is to attack the errors in the investigation...
I agree. If defense brings up Odinism, I think the jury will discount and distrust whatever else they say.

I think the best defense, at least from where we are now, is to say prosecution didn't prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. I'm not sure if the jury will agree with that or not, but I think it's a better approach than to bring up Some Odinist Did It.

they know it isn’t coming in. i think it’s part for appeal grounds and mostly for the fanclub. i think they’ve been fully invested in a Karen Read strategy since Franks. Make conspiratorial motions in court and leak to your online influencers.

Some random thoughts.

He says he lost the bullet when he says down the hill but that isn't possible

He says used off trail to stay hidden after committing the murder so who did SC see that was muddy and bloody

Jury will have to weigh a confession against when he obtained discovery
He could have racked gun twice. Once losing a bullet on the bridge and once at the CS. He used the sound to control.

Is there corroboration that BW was driving a white van? From what I have heard BW arrived at 3:30, this would not have been able to be what spooked ra across the creek since the last movements on Libby’s phone were 2:32

<MOD NOTE - Initials only for a non-POI>

What is the source for the arrival of BW at 3:30 p.m.?

Are we sure it wasn't 2:30 p.m.? The 2 floor elevation registered on Libby's phone happened from 2:31 p.m. to 2:32 p.m. so this would jive.

So, in one of the police interviews, RA said that when he carried his gone for mushroom hunting, etc. he carried it with one bullet already chambered.

I can see a few scenarios:

1) Gun racked at bridge version 1--that causes unspent cartridge to fall out because he already had one chambered. He picks it up, sticks in jacket pocket. Yes, the bridge has gaps, but it also has boards for it to land on and he would have anticipated the cartridge coming out. I'm also not sure that we are clear that he is still standing on the boards of the bridge when he says "Guys, down the hill" or if he has made it onto the ground at the end. While struggling with Libby or while bent over dragging Libby, the cartridge falls out and gets pushed into the ground as it is walked on or Libby is dragged over it.

2) Gun racked at bridge version 2----that causes unspent cartridge to fall out because he already had one chambered. He picks it up, sticks in jacket pocket. While at the clearing where the bodies are found, he racks it again to threaten them into further action. This second cartridge now falls to the ground into the leaves and due to struggling with the girls/one of them starting to run off/etc, he isn't able to find it to pick it up especially once he's killed them and is now focused on finishing up and getting the heck out of there. Or he picks it up, puts it in pocket with the first bullet, and like I described a few sentences ago, one falls out and gets pushed down into dirt and leaves during a struggle with the girls and he can't find it.

So in scenario 2, he's leaving with one unspent cartridge in his pocket. He can dispose of it when he gets home or throw it out his car window into woods elsewhere.

Or....

Remember the bullet in the keepsake box? We haven't heard more any information about it--is it an unspent cartridge, is it a fired one, do the markings on it match his Sig Sauer and/or the cartridge at the scene? What did he say about why he had a bullet or cartridge in the keepsake box?

I personally lean towards scenario 1, because it is pretty risky to keep it at home in the bedroom, have Kathy stumble upon it and have to come up with a lie. And because you would think that the gun expert who already testified about it would have mentioned it....but then again, I don't remember her specifically mentioning testing on any other objects that were taken from his home other than the gun, right?

More from Dr. Wala:

Wala told the jury on April 5, 2023 Allen discussed his case with her, unprompted.

Wala said Allen claimed he molested his sister and experimented sexually with male and female children his age when he was a kid. Wala said Allen told her this is where he thought his problem started.

Wala told the jury Allen said he had been an alcoholic twice since 2011. Allen told her he accepted God on March 21, 2023 and expressed remorse for the killings, according to Wala.

Wala said Allen expressed appreciation for being clothes and fed at Westville, he asked for bibles and slept with one. She said he asked to speak with a chaplain.

Wala told the jury she that Allen “had a bizarre smile” and claimed he had memory lapses. She said he “confessed in a very matter of fact manner.” Wala said she thought he could have been purposeful and instrumental with his confessions. She said she was aware he had written confessions in request and requested an interview.

Wala said Allen’s normal eye-contact was “sometimes intense,” and that she saw “intermittent gazing, but then would be normal.” “His emotions were kind of up and down,” she said.

In a report from April 7, 2023:

Wala told Allen that he had confessed and told him it was not in his best interest, that it could get to the media. Wala told the jury that she felt like he was being more blatant with his confusion. She said she felt he was purposeful being that way, faking it.

Wala told the jury that Allen said that he “didn’t sign anything, right?”

The next report is from April 10, 2023. Wala tells the jury that she noticed “faking” symptoms. She said Allen was naked during this meeting, that there were papers on the floor and was doing “unknown things” to his penis and talking about his wife. Wala tells the jury that the papers on the floor were the discovery paperwork for the case.

Yes, I think he was faking and trying to manipulate the therapist at the April 10, 2023 meeting.

If it's proven RA didn't have access to the information he confessed to, everyone should come to the realization that he is guilty.
Unfortunately even then, some wouldn't.

Nope probably not. What a sad story it will be indeed, a drunken perverted pedophile who murdered two innocent teens was framed in a massive conspiracy.

He could have racked gun twice. Once losing a bullet on the bridge and once at the CS. He used the sound to control.
Yep, I agree MOO him THINKING he may have lost it on or near the bridge supports the reports from those in the court room that a metallic sound was heard on the video played in court from the girls' cell phone. He racked the gun near the bridge and therefore thought perhaps that is where LE had located the cartridge they claimed they had.

That didn't come from discovery. that came from the interview in October of 2022 just prior to his arrest. He believed that he had lost it near the bridge when he racked it. MOO

snipped

I agree, and I'm really disappointed in some of those online true-crime "influencers." I expected better and more balanced coverage from some of those I considered the "good ones."

jmo
yep, this case has for sure made me reevaluate which ones are on my very short list of "the good ones"

Was there a guard or someone with Dr. Wala during this meeting?

I can’t recall, but without protection this seems to me to be potentially dangerous for Wala.

Alone with an accused murderer, particularly one who is being interviewed while naked and doing something sketchy with his penis in her presence?

I understand she emerged safely, but as a woman this sends those familiar tentacles of fear down my spine.

They were separated by bars from what I understand

Re: ‘Odinism’ and the arrangement of branches. Here’s the thing that I find most ridiculous about this. February in Indiana means tree branches have no leaves. I’m sure he may have looked around for better camouflage to cover up his evil perversions, but he was spooked by the van and was already rushed. And in winter, deciduous trees and their branches are bare in the Midwest. There will never be anything better to work with.
