Very damaging.

Not necessarily. She gave support to RA and told him he had many supporters. She would give him encouragement. She testified to this back at the 3 day hearings.

12:35 P.M.

Court resumed at 11:08 a.m. and Dr. Monica Wala resumed her testimony in direct examination.

The prosecution asks about Allen’s physical appearance in November 2022. She tells the jury he was about 180 lbs and had began refusing meals and over exercising. She said the exercising “seemed positive at first.”

Wala tells the jury that if you miss three meals, they don’t report. If you miss four, they have to report. She said Allen was mindful not to miss the fourth meal.

Are men's sizes different to ladies? I'm 5'4. I'm not a size four shoe, not even in kid sizes. Ty in advance. Not moo as this is a question.
In my experience, I'm a size larger in mens sizes than I'm in women's size.

Imo she seemed to be looking at pro-d resources online. Hope the list will be read in court.

Compelling testimony from Doctor Wala, prison psychologist, provides significant proof of Richard Allen's guilt:

When asked about her May 3 meeting with Allen, Wala said he gave a narrative of the crime to her during that meeting. This is what Wala testified was in that narrative he gave:
  • Allen said he saw his parents on the morning of the crime. He bought a 6-pack instead of lunch, drank three beers, bundled up, went to the trail and saw the girls.
  • He then followed them to the bridge, did something to his gun and thought that was when the cartridge came out, told the girls "down the hill."
  • He said he planned on a sexual assault but saw a van, "got scared" and decided not to, crossed the creek and "cut necks" before covering the bodies with branches.
  • Then, staying off the trail to not be seen, Allen said he returned to the car and had lived his life normally since.

Yeah. My point is that it gives the defense ammo to damage her credibility.

Regardless though, Allen’s account of that day is especially devastating.

Those poor girls were the unlucky ones in this case and are paying the ultimate price.

Possibly. No doubt they will cherry pick her testimony that is favorable to them.

Sure - I get that - but I found this link: Average Shoe Size for Men: Size, Height, and Other Facts

Interestingly, it suggests a 5'4 man would be in a size 7-9 - that is way larger than a size 4! Did LE take shoe / footprint measurements or impressions at the scene when they found the kids? I'm probably really far behind so any links that help here would be super appreciated!

I agree, the result was she lost her job. That doesn't negate these confessions.

More from Dr. Wala:

Wala told the jury on April 5, 2023 Allen discussed his case with her, unprompted.

Wala said Allen claimed he molested his sister and experimented sexually with male and female children his age when he was a kid. Wala said Allen told her this is where he thought his problem started.

Wala told the jury Allen said he had been an alcoholic twice since 2011. Allen told her he accepted God on March 21, 2023 and expressed remorse for the killings, according to Wala.

Wala said Allen expressed appreciation for being clothes and fed at Westville, he asked for bibles and slept with one. She said he asked to speak with a chaplain.

Wala told the jury she that Allen “had a bizarre smile” and claimed he had memory lapses. She said he “confessed in a very matter of fact manner.” Wala said she thought he could have been purposeful and instrumental with his confessions. She said she was aware he had written confessions in request and requested an interview.

Wala said Allen’s normal eye-contact was “sometimes intense,” and that she saw “intermittent gazing, but then would be normal.” “His emotions were kind of up and down,” she said.

In a report from April 7, 2023:

Wala told Allen that he had confessed and told him it was not in his best interest, that it could get to the media. Wala told the jury that she felt like he was being more blatant with his confusion. She said she felt he was purposeful being that way, faking it.

Wala told the jury that Allen said that he “didn’t sign anything, right?”

The next report is from April 10, 2023. Wala tells the jury that she noticed “faking” symptoms. She said Allen was naked during this meeting, that there were papers on the floor and was doing “unknown things” to his penis and talking about his wife. Wala tells the jury that the papers on the floor were the discovery paperwork for the case.

Via Defense Diaries on X

Dr. Monica Wala is currently on the stand on Direct. She is testifying regarding multiple confessions made to her by #RichardAllen. Most notably the confession made on May 3, 2023 wherein he gave a narrative description of his activities in the day of the murders.
Wala stated that Rick stated that he went to see his parents, then they were going to eat lunch and he wasn’t interested. He said he picked up a six pack of beer and drank three, the drank the other three later. Went home, bundled up, and went to bridge. Followed the girls. Stated that he did something with gun, and that’s when he must have dropped round. He said he was intending on SA girls but a van startled him and he killed the girls. Covered the bodies with sticks and went back to his car. Lived his life.

More to report have to go back in.

THAT nails him, IMO.
BW drove his van to the house to check on it. His parents were out of town.
No way to defend or twist this statement.

This is interesting in light of the two male names he mentioned yesterday:

Wala said Allen claimed he molested his sister and experimented sexually with male and female children his age when he was a kid. Wala said Allen told her this is where he thought his problem started.

At the hearings she was asked about looking up info about KK and she said she was interested in that angle.

They can't bring his up at trial though as we know.

Edited: To clarify this was before RA's arrest as was her trip to Monon High Bridge, IIRC

I know we are essentially beyond the point of talking about sketches, but to me, the courtroom sketches, done professionally with RA right there all day long, still do not greatly resemble what I see in recent photographs of him.

Perhaps because we can’t see him live in court, he does look like this now, somehow. Personally I think this just doesn’t look like his face.

I think he’s simply hard to capture in sketches, possibly.

It could just be me, if others here do feel that this sketch looks like RA as he is now.

According to the steps/distances testimony last week, RA spent the majority of the time (before the phone stopped reporting movement) under the bridge (before crossing the creek).

He forced them to undress (based on loose clothing in the creek). We will never know what else he may have done in, on or near them (or what evidence may have been lost in the creek crossing), but it's obvious to me, he doesn't want his wife to think he did anything sexual. "I didn't do the things I said I did."

Explaining the interruption (that led to the second location) is very damning. Had it not been for the man/van, he might have murdered them then and there.

One man, two victims and alcohol explains the chaos.

This has been exposed now regardless - and a spotlight put on this facility.

That's for damn sure.
if the girls' legacy is illuminating that the "incentive" to abuse a position of power when there is no quantifiable benefit is the same as the "incentive" to commit murder, then "justice for Libby & Abby" looks more like holding ourselves accountable and recuperating the system
...rather than denying that those who are innately "incentivized" by having power & control over others gravitate toward roles where exerting power and control over others is the primary job duty, let alone roles where the job title and nothing more than the job title inspires our complete confidence/trust that the job performance is excellent! -- never any areas need improvement, no growth opportunities ever

I want justice for Libby & Abby and hope we don't let them down

they didn't go through what they went through just to run-of-the-mill end up getting a guy sent to prison -- they deserve so much more than that; we owe them so much better than that

I was only half serious about the flask when I said that a few days ago. My point was that for him to have done this, he'd likely have alcohol in his system to lower his inhibitions. I didn't think he was hammered drunk, but just enough to get a buzz. The timeline seems to indicate he drank all 6 before the murders, just not at the exact same time.
What I’m envisioning is he drank three at his mothers house, two on the drive back to Delphi, and one at home while he gathered his “things”.

And I am with you, since day one, way before RA I’ve thought the killer had been drinking at the time of the murders. I’m pretty sure I said straight up in early threads that I thought what was in BG’s pocket was not a gun but a small bottle of liquor and a pack of smokes.
