Not unexpectedly or unwarranted IMO. We've seen the damage leaked pics and info have created in this case. I say good on Judge Gull.

Elkhart Co, IN has had scanners since years = one to walk through and one to send a handbag through. If the walk through goes off, one must remove the offending item and go back through; if there is anything sus in the handbag, they will dump the entire contents out on the counter.

Nice recall. FSG would be David McCain, IIRC. He testified for the defense & said he came from MHB & was leaving via Mears entrance around 4. He didn’t testify to hearing anyone yelling.

After Heath left the stand, David McCain stepped in. McCain has lived in Delphi for 20 years and was a project manager for the Monon High Bridge Trail.

McCain said he was on the trail around 2 or 3 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2017, adding that he saw no other cars there. He used a camera to take photos while he walked, and said he only saw a few people on the trail. He left just before 4 p.m., noting he was surprised by the amount of people at the Mears entrance. He said someone asked him if he’d seen the girls as he was leaving. After learning the girls were missing, he called the sheriff’s office to say he was at the bridge that day. Two FBI agents and an ISP agent interviewed him at his house, and he said he gave them the pictures and SIM card from his camera.

He told jurors that during his time on the trails and the bridge he never saw or heard anything unusual.

McCain did reach out to the sheriff’s department after hearing of the girls’ deaths. FBI agents spoke to him less than a week later. McCain gave the photographs he took to police. He said he’d been interviewed several times over the years including being asked about capturing any cars in the background of his photos.

Thanks very much for finding that.

I have no problem with that and not just because of RA's case. If you're planning on going to Court and being scanned person/items one would think it would logical to prepare in advance. What if a bereaved family member tried to get a weapon through, or someone who has bad intentions to the jurors or Judge. It happens.

Let's not forget one of the Internet Cranks that tried to get her recording sunglasses through at RA's trial.

Come on people, use your common sense and be respectful of the Court and your fellow human beings.

A good number of my fellow human beings in Indiana have been pushing for transparency and cameras in the courtroom. Had the judge allowed that, people would be less likely to try to smuggle stuff in. Even better would have been a live stream of the trial, where the court can control who sees what just by turning the stream off.

Regarding this part: "He told jurors that during his time on the trails and the bridge he never saw or heard anything unusual."

Wasn't FSG the one who told DG about the two down under the bridge when asked if he had seen the girls?

The articles are linked; WISH goes to a summary blog which then leads to a more detailed portion. I skimmed over them but do not recall that specific part nor DG being named. He said he saw other people on the trails & I believe a couple, possibly Cheyenne & her BF. He saw people at Mears around 4 & one asked if he’d seen the girls. Not a whole lot of his testimony was quoted. I also looked at the local Delphi paper but the coverage for that particular day of the trial was brief.

Respectfully, just because a person doesn't agree with Court Decorum doesn't mean they are allowed to disregard it. There are rules to be followed whether we agree or like them.

It was Judge Gull's Courtroom and her decision entirely. Based on the past misbehavior of this Defense Team and their band of wayward followers I don't blame her. She had no legal obligation to allow media coverage and it doesn't mean anyone was hiding anything. I know many in favor of a grand conspiracy like to believe so, but there were media and public allowed inside daily whom we've heard from on both sides.

I think Judge Gull made the decision to protect all the parties involved, especially Abby, Libby and the Families who more than deserved it after being so completely exploited by the Defense's Franks CS 9 page nonsense IMO. She sealed the CS photos and autopsy information indefinitely after trial IIRC.

For the sake of clarity of facts, you have a link to suggest DG walked anywhere near Monon High Bridge that day? I recall FSG was coming from that very direction, not from Freedom Bridge area and so that’s why DG didn’t go any further to check it out at the time. I think you’ve got it backwards.
No, I do not have a link. I was replying to the original person who suggested DG may have been yelling Libby's name that day and that might have scared Richard Allen to leave the crime scene area. I thought it was a good theory.

The only way to know if DG walked near the Monon High Bridge that day or yelled out Libby's name in the Monon High Bridge area is to ask him.

I also wonder if Liberty German's phone was on silent vibrate mode or if she had the ringer on and it was making sound when people called or texted? I wondered this after seeing the pictures released. The phone stopped moving at 2:32 pm per courtroom testimony.

I think most parents would be calling and possibly yelling their child's name as they would want them to know they are looking for them and would like to leave. There might have been a lot of phone calls and texts to Libby's phone too. At the time, DG had no idea what had actually happened.

I cannot remember which direction FSG came from that day, only that at some point he met up with DG who asked if he had seen the girls. I am sure after that point everyone searched the entire trail area looking for the girls which is why I think if Richard Allen did get back to his car, it must not have been on the trails as it sounds like there were numerous people that were walking on them at the time he would have been walking back to his car if he was seen by SC at 3:57pm walking along 300 N.

Okay so we have no information to suggest DG yelled his way to the Monon High Bridge and therefore I think it’s safe to assume he didn’t and the reason was because he ran into the FSG and took his word that he didn’t notice anything unusual. Nor it is appropriate for the general public to question his actions as he already testified during the murder trial.

Typically when the pickup person is by themselves, it’s very likely they’d choose to remain close to the pickup location and within eyesight of the vehicle. No point in venturing away from the meetup location in those first few minutes rather than just waiting for them to show up. Only later has it been learned by this time the girls had already been murdered. After he alerted his family members a larger ground search would’ve been possible but by that time seems that RA was already long gone. JMO

I'm not sure where DG parked but I think it was close to the Mears entrance.

Derrick German arrived at the trail a little after 3 p.m. and called Libby, but she didn't answer. He looked for the girls on the trail, screaming their names and calling Libby's phone multiple times. Nobody answered.

Is this topic to pick on the girls for not screaming so they could be heard or to accuse DG of lying?

This “theory” was never presented by the defense or RA in their extensive ramblings. RA was truthful because the evidence shows he did what he said he did.

Richard Allen said that the white van is what scared him off no need to make up things or go fishing for fault with the victims when the guilty man has provided the information:

He said he saw a van that scared him and decided not to follow through with his plan. He crossed the creek, and then he cut the girl's necks. After he made sure they were dead, he exited the trails in a way he wouldn't be seen.

Delphi Murder Trial Day 12: Richard Allen's phone confessions to wife and mother

all imo

In this link I noticed I had missed Richard Allen thinking on where he might have dropped the cartridge:

[...]

After that, Allen said he went and bought beer, had three of them and finished the rest later. Allen said he saw the girls and followed them down the bridge, then lay in wait, where he thinks the cartridge fell out.

He ordered the girls down the hill and that he intended to rape them, as he thought they were older than their biological age.

Odd that DM never mentioned hearing or seeing DG on his way from MHB to Mears. He said he saw a group of people & a man asked if he’d seen the girls while passing through Mears parking area, IIRC.

Maybe DG turned towards Freedom Bridge & stuck to the eastern potion of the trails & didn’t head towards MHB until after DM had left, which would be around 4.

I thought the man he was talking about was DG. What other man would it have been?

Well, my memory is that he walked from the Mears parking area to the trial head, where he saw FSG coming toward him on the bridge path (501). When the guy said whatever he said, then DG went down the 505, which took him down to the creek. I had assumed he didn't go all the way down to the water and when he didn't hear them or see them, came back up and went toward Freedom bridge.

I thought it was strange that Richard Allen, depending on if he heard DG's voice yelling Libby's name, did not leave the crime scene area earlier than around 3:45pm (if he was seen by SC walking on 300 N at 3:57pm)? I wondered if he saw or heard Libby's phone ringing too? Maybe due to wearing the beanie hat, he could not hear sound well that day? Maybe he only saw the van, but did not hear it?

When Richard Allen confessed about seeing the van that scared him, I still wonder if anyone thought to ask him during this time while he was confessing, "Are you the person in the video from Liberty German's phone video?" Someone had to have asked him that question after his initial interrogations where he denied everything. In my opinion, asking that question and getting an answer of yes after the van confession would have solved the case right there.

Does Richard Allen get frightened by vans, family members yelling out the girls' names, phones ringing or doesn't he?
