I imagine by now, the P is wishing they would just shut up and go away.

[snip from the article]
"Much of Friday’s proceedings have been taken up by the prosecution’s objections and multiple sidebars involving counsel and the judge.}
I, too, would want them to stop trying to admit inadmissible evidence if that's what they're wasting everyone's time on. It should not come as a surprise to them that they shouldn't be trying to admit evidence that doesn't have a clear origin. The defense would be making the exact same argument if the roles were flipped.

Any discussion about whether you could see from the wooded area of the crime scene to BW's home/driveway (or where ever van parked)? Ive never understood why the state didnt want the jury to view the actual crime scene.
Thank you in advance.

@MaxLewisTV

-First on the stand was Hammond Police Officer Christopher Gootee
-He interviewed Brad Weber about 6 days after the murders with an FBI agent
-When defense attorney Jennifer Auger asked him if Weber went straight home after work, Gootee said he didn't know

-She then showed him a report done by FBI Special Agent Adam Pohl to see if it could refresh his memory
-Gootee looked at the report and still couldn't say if Weber went straight home after work
-Auger appeared stunned and confused
-Gootee stepped down soon after

"Brad Weber took the witness stand after Dr. Wala on Wednesday afternoon. Weber owns property next to the Monon High Bridge trails, off North 625 West, that was searched in the initial hours after the girls went missing."

"According to Catron, he walked the trails searching for the girls and was “always listening.” He also searched the nearby private property of Brad Weber. The girls might have been walking on this private property that butted up next to the trails. Kelsi German was also asked about the private property during her testimony stating she was unaware it was private property.

Catron said Weber permitted him to search the property for the girls. He searched the property for roughly five to seven minutes. Catron said Weber was neither bloody, sweaty nor disheveled."
I was just going to pull that up.

Local LE did talk to Weber before the girls were even foud deceased to garner information from him.

Odd that the Defense didn't call him about what BW reported to Catron. Funny that.

I'm certain the State will recall him ... as he's already testified Day 1 that he spoke to Weber at 5:15pm on 13 February 2017.

"Carroll County Sheriff's Office Deputy Mitch Catron, who has worked for the county for 12 years, said in the day's final testimony that he responded to a call about the missing girls around 5:15 p.m. that day.

Using large maps of the area around the Monon High Bridge and Deer Creek, attorneys made Catron point out how he approached the trail from the south on a private drive that led him through the woods and, eventually, to the property of Brad Weber.
...
McLeland, the lead prosecutor, asked of Weber: "Was he covered in sweat? Was he covered in blood? Did he look disheveled in any way?" Matron said no to each question.

Weber allowed the officer to search his property, though the defense noted that Catron didn't look inside two outbuildings on the site. He said he likely stayed for less than 10 minutes.

Although the trees were bare in February, Catron said he saw nothing out of place when he searched the woods near Weber's property and along the private drive."

Van sightings.
Do you remember what witnesses that would be?
BW himself of course, but I just dont remember anyone that in the vicinity during the 2:13-2:32 time.
(other than BW)
Ok so from thread #208 post 412… I don’t know how to bring a post forward… this is what I was thinking of/ and please report if posts need to be removed - it was more that vans were mentioned in discovery- no clue about time line of tips

"During cross-examination, Rozzi noted there were 14,000 tips in the Delphi case and said there were numerous references—perhaps hundreds—to white vans in evidence turned over during discovery."

I'm sure RA went and read all 14,000 tips“

a lot of murders that happen outside in the open are very difficult to solve. they happen fast in an ever-changing environment and the perp usually leaves the scene quite quickly.

this case is shockingly flat in it's motive, this killer wanted to rape the girls but got paranoid and murdered them out of eyesight, end of story, and I think that is it. he probably had several rounds in his pocket.he had his gun, he was covered up. Of course what you don't know is that he was going to kill them all along. He wants to separate the sexual assault away from the murder. Does anyone here believe he would ever allow them to live? His confessions are full of omissions because he want's it that way. mOO
I’m glad to see your common sense approach of reviewing case info and trial evidence for determining guilt or not, too bad for them that common sense doesn’t align with their philosophy of conspiracy theorists.

All just my opinion:

I have always felt that KA knew (or had a strong suspicion) all along. Just my opinion. Wouldn’t she have wondered just what the heck her husband (or somebody who looked exactly like him..) was doing on MHB, overdressed in clothes that looked like his on a warm day at approximately the same time the girls were thought to have been murdered?

Wouldn't she have recognized the jacket? The hat/cap? The jeans? The leather hip pack? Wouldn’t she have known that he was a sex addict (as he admitted) and an alcoholic (as he admitted) who had previously exhibited some mental health issues and odd behavior? She lived with him.

Imo if KA didn’t believe it was him, it was only because she didn’t want to believe it was him. Imo she was in denial - protecting herself and her family - mentally and emotionally.

I think that when RA first saw the BG photos on the 15th, he panicked. I bet his heart started racing. He knew right then that he was going to have to pre-explain his presence on MHB. Everybody would see him (or see somebody who looked exactly like him wearing clothes exactly like his) on that bridge. It’s remarkable to me that nobody immediately called the tip line and suggested that it might be him. Idk, maybe RA was not that well known, not very social.

He also knew there had been witnesses who could possibly put him (or somebody who looked very much like him) there, but he probably hadn’t worried too much about that until the BG photos were published on the 15th. Those were his clothes. He had parked his car there.

Imo the first person RA would’ve felt he needed to pre-explain his presence at MHB to was KA. She would recognize him for sure. How could a wife not? He would then need to arrange it so that she thought it was her idea to do the same with LE. Pre-explain. What manipulation imo.

Jmo, but I think he knew that Libby’s video would eventually convict him. That had to have been a shock. Pre-explaining his presence was his only hope, and even that was slim. Every day that went by had to have been filled with a terrible sense of foreboding, that he was eventually going to be held to account.

All just my opinion
I agree. I think some part of her was suspicious. In a news report about his interrogation, she is quoted as saying, "I thought you said you weren't on the bridge?"

What’s a horse cult?

Are you talking about the very real and very dangerous Neo Nazi prison gang whose steady rise in numbers is plaguing Indiana?
As an Illiana (illinois/indiana border) resident please share with me examples of Odinist crimes or murders that have added to this "plague" in the area separate from this case.

I am not justifying their beliefs but sacrifices are not at all typical in Norse or odin beliefs.

Juror questions of Dr. Dwenger--the director of behavioral health for IDOC.

"A juror asked Dwenger if safekeepers are ever placed in the general population. Dwenger said yes.

A juror asked if Allen may have faked mental health symptoms to stay out of the general population where Allen may have been harmed. Dwenger said that was possible but she had no knowledge.

A juror asked if Dwenger ever heard threats against Allen herself. Dwenger said no.

A juror asked if, while faking mental health concerns, a person could slip truths in a confession. Dwenger said she has seen psychotic people confess sincerely and psychotic people make things up.

A juror asked how a psychiatrist can tell if someone is faking psychosis. Dwenger said in a brief psychotic episode where someone is detached from reality, the clinician has to listen to body language and the chain of the story. Dwenger said if the story is organized the person is probably faking psychosis. If the story is disorganized, not easily followed, and out of chronological order it is more likely the person is psychotic or delusional.

A juror asked what the process is for an inmate with SMI who is a safekeeper. Dwenger said it is the same as for any other inmate.

A juror asked what IDOC's primary responsibility for safekeeper inmates is. Dwenger said safety.

I continue to be super impressed with the juror questions. Very thoughtful! I also think those answers were helpful to the Prosecution.

I hope Judge Gull DOES let the FBI guy in Texas doing election security duty testify remotely (though I honestly doubt he'll be able to until late next week).

I hope that if they are able to get him to find time to testify, that the DT is incredibly confident that they have something solid and incriminating to get from him. Otherwise, that's going to blow up in their faces if they pull someone away from a very important and time sensitive assignment to get a reply of "I wrote that he said he went straight home. Thats what I recall."

I hope we find a better source than this because surely there is some mistake.

"trained interviewer, canvassing neighborhoods" = doesn't know what Weber said, completely missed RA's house.

Gang taskforce focusing on kidnapping. smh
**************

Gang Response Investigative Team (GRIT)

The GRIT initiative is an FBI-led task force designed to identify, disrupt, and dismantle gangs and gang-related activities. The primary mission of the GRIT is to reduce the incidence of gang-related violence in Indiana.
I feel like we are all relying on the worst possible people to tell us what happens in that courtroom. Like a group of drunks at a bar telling a story. No one really says the same thing and most of it doesn't make sense.

I continue to be super impressed with the juror questions. Very thoughtful! I also think those answers were helpful to the Prosecution.certainly seeme paying attention.
They certainly seem to be paying attention.

I hope these questions are coming from multiple jurors…not just one….although from the quantity of questions, sounds like multiple jurors

I am surprised that it is said it can't be verified what date/time the camcorder videos for out of the cell (I remember them saying they used the camcorder whenever he was transported anywhere within the building) happened. You'd think the date/time stamp would be visible on the video clips themselves. I sure hope that the prison didn't have that feature turned off--because that would seem to defeat one of the major purposes of taking the video in the first place--providing documentation.

Another docket update just in:

01/11/24: (Defendant files) Motion For Witness To Appear Remotely
Re: Defense Supoena of Supervisory Special Agent Adam Pohl of the FBI to testify
Hmm to make sure the elections proceed smoothly or to read his own handwriting of an interview of a witness that couldn't have physically committed the crime...

Choices.
