GUILTY Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #216

He could have finished off 3 beers on the drive back home from his mom's. I doubt he had a problem with drinking and driving.
I thought about drinking and driving, but then wondered why he would not take at least 1 beer with him when he decided to go to the Monon High Bridge trail? According to the confession to Dr. Wala, he drank 3 beers before going to the trail and 3 after.

I thought he must be brazen if he admits to seeing cars in the Mears parking lot(like he did in the PCA) but still went forward with the crime. There is also walking back to his car after the murders from the crime scene area. This is not a short walk. From some video I have seen it is as much as a 20 - 25 minute walk back to his car at the old CPS building.

SC sees Richard Allen a little after 3:57pm walking on 300 N when she passes the Hoosier Harvest store surveillance camera. Then Richard Allen must have gotten scared because of seeing yet another vehicle(a car instead of a van) so he re-entered the Monon High Bridge trail at the Mears entrance and walked on the trail back to his car? No one saw him on the trail path or near it from approximately 4 - 4:15pm.

Then because the Hoosier Harvest store surveillance camera does not have his car leaving at around 4:15pm, he went into town to dispose of the box cutter at the CVS dumpster and then drove home and drank the other 3 beers.

He was not beaten or threatened.
Respectfully snipped by me.

Golden words here. He was not beaten or threatened.

I had to take a break from here, my anger was getting the best of me. The child killer had FIVE years to enjoy before he was held accountable for his actions. All the lies that have been put out to the media, how I wish Prosecutor would/could go after those that lied and aided this killer after the fact. I'd bet the farm no one laid a hand on that little man, we would have heard about it big time at the trial. All Lies.

People speak of an appeal, wonder how far the process of an appeal would go. Also not really thinking anyone is going to harm the child killer during his incarceration. Simply this child killer won't be able to handle his confinement, possibly take the easy way out. Just look how the killer acted when given special treatment.

It's sickening not only how Killer Allen acted once arrested, even more so how much support he received by lies, fabrication, victim blaming, family torture, accusing innocent people. IMO there is a lot of shame and disgust to go around.

All My Opinion

I have a challenge now that the trial has ended and Richard Allen is a convicted child killer.
The challenge is….name one thing the defense team said, or submitted via motion in this case that was 100% true or was not linked to unsupported fantasy.
Thinking about it myself I cannot think of anything they proffered that was not sprinkled with various amount of fiction. Lies, half truths, fudging on things….all premeditated lies.
They were very bad lawyers who led a vile stupid man in need of important legal advise and his family into making a mockery of our judicial system.
They should be disbarred and have their own chapter in law books about how to bring shame on your profession.

He needed his hands to hold the gun and subsequently the boxcutter?
He didn’t want to leave behind a beer can that would be a rich source of his DNA?

All I can think of that was true and said by the defense is that their client’s name was Richard Matthew Allen.

Prison is not pleasant but Westville is a modern prison.
The reason he was there was for services: a segregation unit to prevent other inmates from killing him in jail, suicide watch and rudimentary mental health services.
His lawyers could have had his competency evaluated and had him transferred to an MH facility.

If he had walked on the trails to go back towards Freedom Bridge, he would have been seen by Libby's Dad who was searching in that area and others who were there by that time (4-4:15)
Plus by then, the Mears parking lot not only had Libby's dad, DG but by then her aunt was there and other witnesses that testified they were there and parked at Mears.

IMO, he stayed on 300N, but off road, in wooded area all the way to the old CPS building.

I am hoping in the current new age times we live,
all the know all you tube 'lawyers' ( ahem cough!) malingering propoganda spewing in glowing support of the defence and what a stellar job they were doing holds up as evidence for appeals.
Their very informed opinions.

 That would be kinda cool karma hey.

No words exist that can capture the depravity of RA, the brutality of what he did, the sickness of his mind. Satanic doesn't even capture it.

I think he'd been to that bridge numerous times before, with the primary intent of sexual abuse, sprinkled with a rage fueled desire to control, and even imaginations of murder.

This day things lined up for him, and he acted. Nothing more. Nothing less.

He mentions the beers, but not the pint. The dude is a sick bstrd.

His defense team provided no defense, probably because there was none.

The more I read about this case (what I can find), I don't know if he was looking to rape. I wonder if he just wanted to torture and then kill. Why target two girls for a SA? Wouldn't it be difficult to control two individuals at the same time?

Unless we end up hearing other things about his background, I believe his goal that day had just been to target 1 girl.

For whatever reason, that was going to be the day. He'd psyched himself up, had the beer to calm the nerves, made sure to have his gun and one of his box cutters, etc.

But once he gets there...he just doesn't see any girl in his target age range who is there alone. He's got the group of 4 teen girls...but he knows that 4 is too many to try to control, even with a gun. He sees Betsy Blair--alone, but too old for him.

Then Abby and Libby come to the bridge. Okay, there are two of them, but they are very young teens, so easier to control. At this point, he knows he's now already been seen by the 4 girls and Betsy Blair.....the longer he waits for the perfect victim, the more people have a chance to see him.

Holy Moly, exactly what I came up with. Very curious of ANYTHING others can come up with.

His name.

It was only surprising to me about his walk back to his car because it was February with no leaves on the trees and the wooded area between the Monon High Bridge Trail path and 300 N seems narrow. I am surprised no one saw him, even if he was just walking in the woods. At the time though nobody probably thought anything serious had happened to the girls so maybe they just did not remember seeing someone walking in the woods?

I suppose none of this means anything since he has been convicted of the crime. The appeals process will be ongoing, maybe for years. Or maybe on December 20th Richard Allen will offer up apologies and the case will end there.

In the search warrant, one of the things the police found were numerous photos of Richard Allen out in the Monon High Bridge trail area going all the way back to 2008. Overall, that is the part that is so remarkable. Criminals do make mistakes. He made so many mistakes, and his own words were his biggest mistake. For someone with that much documented experience going out to the Monon High Bridge trail area and being seen out in the area, it was surprising he did not have a better plan.

I still think Richard Allen deserves a new trial because this is not the way police and prosecution should be getting confessions. Also, this information only puts him on the trails between 1:30 - 3:30pm which everyone already suspected due to the confession regarding the van. I think the minor detail about drinking the 3 beers first made his credibility suspect regarding the timeline. In my opinion, the jury convicted him because of it.

Trying here to understand how the police and prosecution should not be getting these confessions? What exactly did LE do or not do?

The killer was not being interrogated, was not being abused or tortured, was not being threatened. He was not even being interviewed when he confessed. That I have seen any evidence of.

I wonder what happened about Baldwin's claim in opening that mobile phone data would prove RA left at 2.15pm?

Was that just a lie?

MOO
I just had a quick listen to the murder sheet podcast of opening statements and they say that defense case is that the girl witnesses were mistaken and he was gone by 1.30, and his car was gone from the CPS lot by 2.15pm and Betsy Blair describes a car in the lot that does not fit the description of RA's car.

A lie.

Twisting facts.

The group of girls, the tall one, guessed at the time they left. 2:15. But cellphone data showed they left much earlier, minutes before KG dropped the girls off. I believe Defense was trying to use that 2:15 guesstimate, pretending cellphone data supported it when it absolutely did not, in a new attempt to muddle the timeline, as if they're leaving later somehow means RIchard Allen did too.

Outrageous. Because they're cellphone data has them leaving at around 1:40, which is consistent with seeing Richard Allen shortly before that, as he arrived.

And as we know, he was ON THE BRIDGE at 2:13/14 and forcing the girls DTH at 2:15. Based on cellphone data. Libby's.

Thanks - i was wondering where the 2.15 "cellphone data" claim came from.
